Free tools for Amazon sellers, ours and Amazon's own

The best Amazon seller tools are often the free ones Amazon already gives you: research dashboards, A/B testing, repricing, review management and shipping software, most of it inside Seller Central. This page lists our own free calculator and maps Amazon's tools to what each one is for, with guides to using them.

Before paying for software, it is worth knowing what Amazon provides for free. Amazon's tools page describes Seller Central as the hub for your selling account, where you list and price products and fulfill orders, and the free Amazon Seller app for managing the business, news and alerts on the go. Around them sits a set of free tools that cover most of what paid suites sell.

For research, Product Opportunity Explorer generates insights about customer search and purchasing behavior, and Amazon's keyword guide adds the search bar's own suggestions. Registered brands get Brand Analytics, a collection of dashboards including Search Query Performance, which shows impressions, clicks, cart adds and purchases for the searches that lead to your brand.

For listings, A+ Content adds rich text, images, video and comparison charts to product pages, and Manage Your Experiments runs A/B tests on product content. Amazon also lists video in the main image block, View in 3D, View in Your Room and Virtual Try-On, and an AI tool that suggests brand names for new launches.

For pricing and operations, Automate Pricing applies repricing rules to help you become the Featured Offer, a fulfillment comparison shows whether to ship yourself or use FBA, and Veeqo, Amazon's free multichannel shipping software, handles labels and inventory across channels. Buy Shipping sells carrier labels for orders you ship yourself.

For customers, the Customer Reviews tool lets registered brands monitor reviews and contact customers to resolve issues. For money, Amazon Currency Converter for Sellers and Seller Wallet handle global payments and transfers.

And across all of it, Seller Assistant, Amazon's AI assistant, answers questions, reports on the business and, in 2026, runs workflows with your approval; a new plugin brings it into Amazon Quick and, in beta, Claude.

Many of these tools need a Professional selling plan, which Amazon lists at $39.99 a month plus selling fees, and several need Brand Registry. That is often the real cost of the free tools: the plan and the trademark, not a subscription.

Paid third-party tools still have a place, for historical data, competitor tracking and automation at scale. Amazon's own Selling Partner Appstore lists approved third-party software. The question to ask before buying is which job the paid tool does that Amazon's free tool does not, for your catalog.

Amazon also shows sales signals in public. Best Sellers Rank on each product page and the Best Sellers, New Releases and Movers and Shakers lists show what sells now in each category, which is the raw material many sales estimators start from. Our guide to what BSR on Amazon means explains how to read it, and best products on Amazon turns it into product ideas.

Our own contribution is small and specific: a free ACoS and TACoS calculator that shows whether your ads make a profit, with the formulas on the page. More tools will follow here when they are worth building.

Most free Amazon seller tools lists also include third-party tools, and Amazon's own keyword research guide mentions suites such as Helium 10 and Jungle Scout for keyword and competitor research. The table below matches each common kind of third-party tool with the free Amazon tool that covers part of the same job, so you can see what a paid tool would add.

The difference is the data. Third-party estimates are modeled from outside Amazon, useful for product research in markets you are not in yet; Amazon's dashboards report real searches, clicks and purchases for your own ASINs and brand. For growth opportunities in a new category, estimates help; for your existing Amazon listing, your own data is the better guide.

The requirements column comes from Amazon's tool pages and our guides; check each tool's page for the current rules, since access changes over time.

What changed in Amazon's tools in 2026

Amazon seller tool changes in 2026: Seller Assistant workflows and a plugin for Amazon Quick and Claude in September, with a free Quick Plus year offered through December 31. Seller Assistant Workflows Plugin Quick Plus answers and reports continuous, with guardrails Quick, Claude beta free year to Dec 31
AI moved from answering to acting, with approval

The largest tool change of 2026 is AI. Amazon added workflows to Seller Assistant, automations that monitor and act within guardrails you set, with audit trails and approval before actions. It also launched a selling partner plugin for Amazon Quick and, in beta for US sellers, Anthropic's Claude, and offers primary account holders a free 12-month Amazon Quick Plus subscription through December 31, 2026.

For shoppers, Amazon brought Rufus and Alexa+ together as Alexa for Shopping, with AI overviews on search results and product pages and a year of price history. Tools that help sellers keep listings complete and pricing honest matter more as a result. Our guide to Amazon Echo keywords covers how voice and AI shopping search for products.

The one formula our calculator is built on

break-even ACoS = profit margin before ad spend

If your ACoS is below your margin before advertising, the ads make money; above it, each ad sale loses money. The calculator does the rest of the arithmetic.

How to tell whether a tool earns its place

Free or paid, a tool is worth keeping when it changes a decision. Six questions sort useful tools from dashboards nobody opens:

The growth tier of the crest: the parcel stream thinned into one clean line along the shelf
QuestionWhy it matters
Which decision does it change?A tool that informs nothing is a cost
Is the data Amazon's own?First-party data beats estimates
Does a free Amazon tool do this?Avoid paying twice
How often do you open it?Weekly use is a good sign
What access does it need?Grant only what the job requires
Can you export the data?Your data should stay yours

Paid research tools estimate sales and search volume from outside Amazon; Amazon's own dashboards show your actual searches, clicks and purchases. Use estimates for markets you are not in yet, and your own data for the ones you are.

Match the tool to the decision. For sourcing decisions, check an ASIN's demand trend and the number of sellers before you buy; Amazon says its Best Sellers list is based on real-time sales, which makes it a free first check. For Amazon FBA inventory decisions, your own sales and stock reports beat any estimate. For listing decisions, run an experiment rather than trust a score.

Tools that need account access should get only the access the job needs, and it is worth reviewing who has access every few months.

If you want a review of the tools and access your account uses, our Amazon consulting service includes it.

Guides to Amazon's tools

Sources first, then the example

  • Rules come from Amazon. Every limit, requirement and prohibited term is taken from Seller Central help and linked, with the date it was last read.
  • Examples are marked. Worked examples use illustrative products and say so. No client data appears in a guide.
  • Dated, and revisited. Amazon changes listing rules and fees. Each guide shows when it was last verified, and fee and policy pages are reviewed at least once a year.
  • Corrections are public. If a guide is found to be wrong, it is fixed and the change is noted at the bottom of the page.
